The Lorries is the first episode of Season 1 of Thomas: The Trainz Adventures. In 2020, there was a remastered version made for the seven year anniversary of the episode's release.

Plot[]

2013 Version[]

As summertime arrives, work on the island of Sodor is keeping it’s engines busier then ever. One day, Henry arrives late to the docks, where a tug boat tells him how late he is. Henry remakes that the engines have a lot of work, but the tug boat suggests that maybe lorries should take over the work. Donald asks Henry to not pay the tug boat any mind, and Henry departs to tell the others.

At the sheds, the other engines share his sentiment. BoCo remarks that older engines like Hiro are still useful. Gordon on the other hand, worries that the tug boat could be right, and unfortunately, he was.

Henry arrives at the docks to find three lorries being unloaded from a ship. The tug boat remarks how they have arrived to do the engines’ work, and the lorries don’t express any politeness whatsoever.

Thomas encounters one of the lorries at a level crossing when Percy pulls up beside him. The lorry calls Percy a green goblin on wheels, much less to Thomas’ amusement.

At the quarry, Rusty, Peter Sam and Duncan encounter another lorry who claims that they belong in a museum or the scrapyard. Peter Sam asks him to leave, and he does so, but not before blowing slate dust on them. Duncan then departs for Lakeside Holt to pick up some trucks bound for the works.

However, upon arriving at Lakeside Holt, he encounters one of the lorries again. The lorry claims that the engines are too slow and that’s why they’re doing the engines’ work. The stationmaster tells Duncan’s crew that times are changing, and Duncan returns to the quarry.

Back at the quarry, he and Duke witness the second lorry loose control and stumble over the edge and crashing at the bottom of the quarry. He is later taken to the docks, where Henry encounters it again and teases him. The lorry vows a comeback. Butch then arrives with another lorry, who he explains to Thomas was struck by Bryan at a crossing after breaking down. James then spots the last lorry on a barge, who the barge operator explains reversed into a jetty.

The Fat Controller then arrives and scolds the lorries for their poor efforts. The three pleads for another chance, but the Fat Controller doesn’t want to afford the funds to repair them, opting instead to send them to a scrap merchant.

The lorries were then loaded onto a ship and sent away in disgrace. Back on the Mainland, they were melted down and their parts scattered around different places. Meanwhile, the Fat Controller ponders that he might need another engine.

At the sheds, the other engines share his sentiment. James remarks that older engines like Edward are still useful. Gordon on the other hand, worries that the tug boat could be right, and unfortunately, he was.

Henry arrives at the docks to pick up his next train, where he also finds three lorries being unloaded from a ship. The tug boat remarks how they have arrived to do the engines’ work, and the lorries don’t express any politeness towards Henry whatsoever.

Percy pulls in beside Thomas at a station, where another lorry teases him. The lorry also calls Percy a green goblin on wheels, and Thomas and Percy share their sentiment towards the lorry.

At the Blue Mountain Quarry, Peter Sam, Duncan and Rusty are chatting when another lorry pulls up and asserts that they will be scrapped. Rusty retorts back, commenting on the lorry's appearance, which he easily rebuffs. Peter Sam asks him to leave, and he does so, but not before blowing slate dust on them. Duncan then departs for Lakeside Holt with some trucks.

However, upon arriving at Lakeside Holt, he encounters one of the lorries again. The lorry claims that the engines are too slow and that’s why they’re doing the engines’ work. The stationmaster tells Duncan’s crew that times are changing, and Duncan returns to the quarry.

Back at the quarry, he and Rheneas witness the second lorry loose control and stumble over the edge and crashing near the tracks. He is later taken to the docks, where Henry encounters it again and teases him. The lorry vows a comeback. Butch then arrives with another lorry, who he explains to Thomas was overloaded and got stuck on a crossing.

The lorries were then loaded onto a ship and sent away in disgrace and they were never seen again. Meanwhile, the Fat Controller ponders that he might need another engine to help out on the Little Western.

In a post-credits scene, Ace comes racing over to Sodor, wearing the second lorry's license plate. He stops at a little yard and comments that the railway sucks before speeding away. The one he said this to is revealed to be Bryan, who comments that Ace was a little bit rude.
